About Birth Photography

Q. Why should I hire a professional birth photographer?

A. While childbirth is arguably the most memorable of life events it can also be quite stressful. Hiring an experienced professional helps assure that you'll have wonderful images, while allowing loved-ones to focus on you and fully participate in the experience without the distraction of trying to make pictures.

Q. I'm modest. What if I don't want all of me shown.

A. Every woman's comfort level is different and I will respect your wishes. Most women choose to show the birth in its entirety and choose what pictures others see after viewing the proofs.

Q. How soon will you arrive?

A. You should call me as soon as you are sure that you are in labor and I will arrive as quickly after that as possible.

Q. What happens if you miss the birth?

A. Sometimes babies arrive unexpectedly. If that happens, I will arrive as quickly as possible afterward and photograph everything from that point onward. If complications mean you are flown to another hospital, or if for any other reason your birth does not occur here, you will receive a refund, minus the deposit.

Q. How much is the deposit and when is the balance due?

A. A deposit of $350 is due when you book. The deposit is not refundable, except in limited circumstances explained elsewhere, because I will turn down other shoots. The balance is due 60 Days prior to your due date.

Q. Since you do all kinds of photography what happens if you have another shoot when I go into labor.

A. Many shoots, such as portraits, can be rescheduled and I will do so. Shoots like weddings and other time-fixed events can't be rescheduled. So, I have reciprocal agreements with another qualified birth photographer that I will attempt to send. In the unlikely event that neither of us is available then you will receive a full refund.

Q. Tell me about you, the photographer.

A. I am happily married to Brenda for over 50 years, the father of two beautiful daughters and five wonderful grandchildren. I have been in business since 1966 and have been repeatedly named, "Best of Abilene." Click Here to See More Info.

Q. How and when will I see my proofs?

A. Your proofs will be on our website, protected with a very secure password so that no one except someone to whom you provide the password will be able to view them. Proofs are usually ready for viewing within 1-3 days.

Q. What if I have a C-Section?

A. I will photograph the C-Section, if your doctor permits. If I am not permitted to do so, I will photograph everything going forward from the the time I am allowed to see you and your baby.

Q. Are my pictures kept private?

A. We will never show your portraits to anyone without your permission.

Q. Do you offer discounts for military and 1st Responders?

A. 10% Discount for Active Duty Military, Police, Fire and Fire personnel and their wives.
